MACROANATOMIC DISSECTION IN THE STUDY OF CONGENITAL CARDIAC MALFORMATIONS (Abstract): The purpose of the paper is to standardize the macroanatomic dissection techniques used to open the heart that presents congenital anomalies. Several incisions are described: from the opening of inferior vena cava to right auricle; through the left border of heart; through right atrium and ventricle; anterior wall of right ventricle; above the base of pulmonary trunk; between the right and left pulmonary veins; paraseptal incision. The importance of incisions in visualizing the exterior and interior configuration of heart is discussed.
