KLATSKIN TUMOR AND SINISTROPOSITION OF THE GALLBLADDER AND COMMON BILE DUCT. CASE PRESENTATION. CONSIDERATIONS REGARDING BILIARY ANATOMIC VARIATIONS (Abstract): Cholangiocarcinoma is defined as any tumor arising from ductal epithelium of the biliary tree and is classified as intrahepatic or extrahepatic according to its location. Klatskin tumors are cholangiocarcinomas arising at the confluence of the right and left hepatic ducts. Although it is a rare tumor, the prognosis remains poor despite recent developments in diagnosis tools and surgical techniques. Radical resection is the only chance for cure. We present the case of a 64 year old woman with sinistroposition of the gallbladder and common bile duct that underwent successful surgical resection for type IIIb Klatskin tumor. The particular clinical aspect, biliary anatomy variations and classification of bile duct cancer are discussed.
