THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE INNATE IMMUNE SYSTEM IN BREAST CARCINOGENESIS (Abstract): The reaction of the innate immune system in initiating and promoting or inhibiting tumour processes has been a constant concern of the scientific world; chronic inflammation is considered one of the main pawns taken into account in tumorigenesis. Although several signalling pathways, mechanisms of action and molecules involved in the inflammatory process of pro or anti-tumoral role were identified, the whole holistic truth is still not elucidated. The goal of this work is to present a short overview of the main effectors of the innate immune system involved in the breast carcinogenesis.
