ANALYSIS OF MORPHOLOGICAL PROGNOSTIC FACTORS IN INVASIVE CARCINOMA OF THE UTERINE CERVIX – A 7–YEARS RETROSPECTIVE STUDY (Abstract): If in developed countries the incidence of invasive cervical carcinoma has declined significantly in recent years in Romania continues to have significant representation associated with increased morbidity and high mortality. The objective was to examine a series of morphological prognostic factors on a group of patients diagnosed with the disease at early stage of development. We studied a group of 145 patients with invasive carcinoma of the cervix FIGO stage I diagnosed and treated in Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology II, Clinical Hospital “Sf. Ap. Andrei” Galati between January 1st, 2002 to December 31st, 2008. All cases were treated by surgery primary or after completion of neoadjuvant therapy. There were analyzed a series of pathological prognostic factors such as tumor volume expressed as maximum tumor size, depth of stromal invasion, histological type, degree of tumor differentiation, lymph vascular space invasion, pelvic lymph node status. The data were interpreted in respect to current data from the literature.
