ANATOMIC AND ULTRASONOGRAPHIC EXPLORATION OF PANCREATIC TUMORS (Abstract): There are no reliable screening tests for detecting pancreatic cancer in asymptomatic persons. In terms of imaging, pathology of pancreatic tumor is and will remain a topic of study and professional debate. We have tried to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of imaging investigations in the diagnosis and grading of pancreatic cancers, make a hierarchy of techniques and determine their sequence in the evaluation of patients at risk. Ultrasonography was performed in all patients in the study group to explore pancreatic cancer and its evolution, having the following indications: the main duct of Wirsung dilation, biliary dilatation extra-and / or intrahepatic invasion of the surrounding organs, vascular invasion, presence of metastases, the presence of liquid ascites, monitoring patients after surgery or interventional radiology procedures for pancreatic cancer pathology. We conclude that ultrasonography performed by an experienced person and using a powerful machine is an imaging method of first choice in symptomatic patients, being mainly used for diagnosis and less for grading, although some metastases (liver) or ascites can be detected.
