THE FACIAL ARTERY (Abstract):The facial artery, a branch of the external carotid artery, pursues a tortous course in the neck and face. It usually ends at the medial commissure of the eye as the angular artery and supplies most of the muscles of the face. The anatomical variants encountered during dissection of 8 facial arteries in 4 adult preserved cadavers are discussed. The clinical anatomy and the use of different flaps based on the branches of the facial artery are discussed.
