MORPHOLOGICAL EXPLORATION OF THE OTIC GANGLION (Abstract): The morphological exploration of the otic ganglion requires some difficult preparatory procedures due to its location, as it is situated deep in the infratemporal fossa, medial to the trunk of the mandibular nerve. Located on the course of the mandibular nerve, the otic ganglion (ganglion oticum) is situated in the infratemporal fossa, immediately below the oval foramen. Morphologically connected to the mandibular nerve, the otic ganglion is a parasympathetic ganglion innervated by the pre ganglion parasympathetic fibres originating in the inferior salivatory nucleus; functionally it is connected to the glossopharyngeal nerve (Fig. 1).
