CONSIDERATIONS ON THE ORIGIN OF THE DOUBLE HEPATIC ARTERIES (Abstract): The study was conducted on a total of 38 cases with double hepatic artery, obtained by dissection of adult and fetal human cadavers, plastic injection followed by dissection or corrosion and angio CT. In 12 cases both hepatic arteries had their origins from the celiac trunk, in all cases the second one being a left hepatic artery The second hepatic artery originated from the superior mesenteric artery in 8 cases (21.05% of cases ) and the other hepatic artery from the celiac trunk as one of its terminal branches. This version corresponds to type 4 of the classification of Michels. In 6 cases the artery originating from the superior mesenteric artery was a right hepatic artery (type 6 of Michels’s classification), and in 2 cases was a left hepatic one (type 8 of Kamina’s classification). This version was found by Bergmann in 10 - 19% of cases, Nguyen Huu in 0.5% of cases, and Lippert in 12% of cases. In 4 cases the two hepatic arteries, one right and one left, originated from the aorta and the celiac trunk was missing, all three branches of the celiac trunk having the origin from the aorta. This version was found by Lippert in less than 1% of cases, Piquand in 2% of cases, Pointer in 0.4% of cases, Rossi and Cova in 3% of cases, and Vandamme in 1.07% of cases. Also in 4 cases the left hepatic artery originated from the left gastric artery (type 5 of classification of 6). In 6 cases (15.79% of cases) one of the two hepatic arteries originated from a hepatosplenic trunk and the other from a hepatogastric trunk, both trunks having the origins originated in the aorta, with the hepatogastric trunk being located above. In 4 cases (10.53% of cases) a hepatic artery originated from the celiac trunk (hepatosplenic trunk) and the other hepatic artery originated from the aorta, as a left hepatic artery, which had its origin from the aorta above the celiac trunk origin. This variation was found by (18) in 10-19% of cases, by (21) in 0.5% of cases and by (20) in 12% of cases.
