ORIGINS O NEUROSURGERY AD NEUROANATOMY. PART ONE: ANCIENT PERIOD (Abstract): The development of neurosurgery as a branch of medicine cannot be understood unless it is closely connected to the emergence of neuroanatomy as a science of nervous system morphology and organization, and of its related structures. This article presents the origins of the first neuroanatomical notions and how the nomenclature related to the locus of pathological processes to be treated by neurosurgical techniques was elaborated.
