AUGMENTATION OF LOCALIZED BONE DEFECTS OF RESIDUAL RIDGE IN MAXILLA AND SIMULTANEOUS INSERTION OF IMPLANTS: A CASE REPORT (Abstract): The presence of localized bone defects of edentulous ridge may compromise the stability of the implants. Augmentation using the guided bone regeneration is a treatment option which provides an optimal bone support in order to ensure the osseointegration of dental implants. The purpose of this case report is to illustrate the effectiveness of local augmentation of bone defects in vestibulo-palatal direction of edentulous alveolar ridge in premolar region simultaneously with the insertion of implants, together with that resulting from apical resection of neighboring canine tooth in a patient of 33 years. At the postoperative control performed at 6 months was found that the implants were stable and radiologically around the implants there is no bone loss, these being completely fixed in bone, as well as the reduction of radiolucency around the apex of the canine which indicates the regeneration of bone defect resulting from the apical resection. Conclusions: Augmentation of alveolar defects located in the maxilla using bone substitutes is a reliable method that allows implant placement. By using bone substitutes was obtained also a more rapidly regeneration of the bone defect resulting from the apical resection.
