      REGULATORY MECHANISMS INVOLVED IN THE PHYSIOLOGICAL ANGIOGENESIS (Abstract): The formation of the vascular network is a compulsory condition during the vertebrates’ development. The vascular network develops rapidly and according to the specific needs of the organs under development in order to offer oxygen and specific nutrients to the tissues in continuous expansion. The mechanisms involved in the control and coordination of these dynamic processes involve genetic and epigenetic factors, molecular factors and cellular reactions, which, corroborated, determine the normal development of the vascular system.The endothelial cells will go through stages of activation, proliferation, migration, alignment, tubes formation, ramification and anastomosis, and all these are included in the process of molecular morphogenesis, while angiogenesis represents the formation of new capillaries from the pre-existing vessels, while being modulated by soluble and membrane factors, but also by biomechanical forces which are still insufficiently elucidated.These stages take place during the embryonic development, but some of them recur during the physiological neovascularisation process in the adult life or, pathologically, in non-tumoral and tumoral affections.
