      ADAM CHRISTIAN THEBESIUS AND THE VALVE OF THE CORONARY SINUS: HISTORICAL NOTE AND CLINICAL ANATOMY (Abstract): Adam Christian Thebesius (1686-1732) was a Silesian anatomist and physician renowned for his study of the coronary circulation. His work on the coronary circulation laid the foundation stone for scientist up to the present day. The anatomical work “Disputatio medica inauguralis de circulo sainguinis in corde” was published in 1708 and described the cardiac veins that open directly in the chambers of the heart – vasa cordis minima. He is also known for the study of the coronary sinus, the valve of the coronary sinus being named after him – the Thebesian valve, a structure that would attract the attention of many researchers and clinicians more than three centuries later.
