ANATOMICAL VARIATION IN THE ORIGIN OF THE LEFT VERTEBRAL ARTERY: LITERATURE REVIEW AND CASE REPORT (Abstract): The present report describes a case of anomalous left vertebral artery originating from the aortic arch, between the brahiocephalic trunk and left common carotid artery, discovered during diagnostic cerebral angiography of an 60-year-old patient. Also, it reviews the types of abnormal origin of the left vertebral artery found in literature and their clinical implications.Detailed knowledge of the anatomical variations of the vertebral arteries is an important fact for patients who need endovascular treatment or surgical vascular treatment in the thoracic and neck regions.
