IMAGING PROTOCOL FOR POSTOPERATIVE FOLLOW-UP OF CONSERVATIVE SURGICALY TREATED PATIENTS FOR BREAST CANCER (Abstract): The conservative surgicaly tratment of breast cancer is indicated in case of the patients in stages I and II. We have examined 144 patients between January 1st 2007 and December 31st 2011, who underwent conservative surgically treatment for breast cancer. We have been selected 2 groups of study: the first one includes patients who had the surgically treatment less than 5 years before and the second one includes patients who were surgically treated more than 5 years before. Imaging methods used to evaluate the surgicaly treated breast are ultrasound and mammography and for selected cases MRI. The diagnosis of infraclinic recurrence is done with these imaging methods and the survival rate is better in comparison with the survival of the patients with clinical diagnosis of the local recurrence. The objective of this article is to emphasize all imaging aspects which can appear in case of the conservative surgically treated breast for breast cancer, in order to improve the postoperative surveillance and to propose an algorithm for the imaging examinations in these cases.
