ASPECTS REGARDING THE RADIOLOGICAL EXAMINATIONS IN THE BIHOR COUNTY BETWEEN 2008 2012 (Abstract) : The expansion of medical imaging services has a significant impact on health care costs, quality of health care and health care risks. The concern about the number of radiological examinations is determined by practical observation of the growth in their number of suppliers also of the number of examinations done. The Radiation Hygiene Laboratory of the Bihor Public Health Directorate centralizes data regarding the diagnostic radiological examinations of all medical units in the county. In this study we found an increase in recent years of patient exposure to radiological examinations once with the increase of medical imaging services. The risk of radioactive exposure is increasingly higher as the growth in medical imaging services is not always beneficial to patient care. We believe it is necessary to increase and to acknowledge the regulation capacity of the public health central authority and to establish national standards regarding the number and territorial distribution of radiological units for preventing increased use of radiological services by recommending unnecessary investigations.
